Photoshoot Plan

 Material to be shot:

I will have one girl for the front cover of my magazine, and all of the double pages spreads. In one DPS, in particular the ‘teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ I will have 3 – 4 different models as I think it would be more appropriate.

What personnel do you need?

Lighting assistant:
Makeup assistant: Myself
Models: Ellie Jackson, Ellie Booth, Emma Crawford, Ashley Ruddam

What props will you need?

I will need bottles of alcohol for my teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ and a baby doll for my teenage pregnancy pictures and blanket. I have potentially thought about using a pushchair as and baby bottle as props as well to make sure that I get the most amount of better pictures that I can, then at the end I can look through them and decide which one fits in better with the colour and the layout.

Describe in detail your make-up & costume needs. (Include reference material to illustrate your needs)

My make up needs for the front cover, teenage pregnancy and body dysmorphia will all be similar. I would like to create the image of natural beauty and confidence by wearing clothes that will show off her figure, but still very classy and sophisticated. I will have her wearing the bare minimum of make up as i want to show that girls don’t need to have a lot of make-up to look nice, and i want it to be a window for the future self for other girls to look at and take inspiration.
For the teenage stress article (drugs and alcohol misuse) i will be using very different clothing to portray the image in a dark light. The girls will be wearing very dark make-up and clothes which do not suit them, and are far too revealing. I don’t want them to look very nice and would like there eye make up dark and heavy, and running down their face as they have lost control of their awareness and cannot manage to sort themselves out, connoting the bad lighting as a dark state that no-one would want to be in.

Studio shoots: what kind of lighting?
(include reference material to illustrate your needs)

For all of my images I will be using butterfly lighting to enhance the beauty of my models and make them look soft and sweet, fitting in with the target audience. As the lighting enhances the features it will make them look confident like a window to the future self.  For my ‘teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ pictures I will use narrow lighting to darken the image and make the models look darker showing them in a bad light.

Backdrop:

All of my backdrops will be white, I will potentially use a black one for my ‘teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ article pictures.

Lighting equipment needs:
Reflector
Soft Box

Contingency Plan

What could go wrong during production
How are you going to avoid this issue? What’s your back up plan?
My models might not turn up
To avoid this problem I should make sure that I alert my models a week before the photo shoot to make sure they can still attend, so that if they can’t I have time to reschedule or get new models. I will them remind them of the time, date and place of the shoot and make sure that they are still okay to do it, then again the day before, and on the morning of the day, then a couple of hours before.
No camera or lighting equipment available
To avoid this problem I will check the day before that all my equipment is set up. I will then go on the morning of my shoot, and arrive 30 minutes before to remind them and make sure that everything is set up and ready so I don’t have a delay.
Models refuse to wear costumes
To avoid this i will make sure i give my models a full brief so they know exactly what is expected of them. I will then check with them that it is okay and let them try it on and have a trail to make sure they are comfortable. I will them check with them two days before that it is still okay.
Could lose pictures/work
To avoid this I am going to make sure that I back my pictures and work up on a memory stick, my home computer and my computer at college, so that if I lose them I have full back-ups.
Run out of time
To avoid this I will make sure that I leave plenty of time and plan in advance, getting a head start. I will also make sure I use lessons and free periods to my full advantage and also use my time at home wisely.
Don’t get a photo shoot
To avoid this I will make sure that I book one very far ahead of when I plan to do it, so that I can check I have defiantly got one.

Article Planning - Teenage Stress 'Drugs & Alcohol Misuse

Article Planning Sheet
Plan the language use of the primary code of your article in the box below.

Article title: Teenage Stress ‘Drugs & Alcohol misuse’

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
Woman’s lifestyle (health). My teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse would fall under this section in my magazine as is it all about the health issues that young people face and giving them advice on how they don’t need these to have a good night.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
I am using a mix of narrative language in all my articles as the tone is chatty.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
My language will be in a chatty and friendly tone with extended language to a certain extent. As my target audience are of high socioeconomic status and very sophisticated they would expect extended language, however as my target audience starts from 16, I will need to balance it so that they can understand it, but as my audience are of high socioeconomic status, they will be well educated and open to the use of extended language. I will not be using any taboo language as it is defiantly not appropriate for my audience.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
I will not be using much stylistics as I don’t really feel it is appropriate for my audience. I feel like stylistics would slightly ‘dumb’ them down. I will however use repetition in my teenage stress article to stress that it is really bad to take drugs and alcohol, and it is not needed to have a good night.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
My tone of voice will be chatty and friendly with a trust worthy tone. It will make them feel welcome and open to me, and like I am a trustworthy friend that they can take endless advice from.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
The pace of my article will be steady, not too fast as that can sometimes be seen as ‘chavvy’, however it also won’t be too slow as that would dumb them down and as they are of a high socioeconomic status this would not be appropriate. The pace will be of a speed which is easy and quick to read, yet not too fast as because they are highly educated, they will be taking in the story and the plot. I will make sure that I speak in a positive light about how you don’t need drugs and alcohol to have a good night and speak negatively about people who do take them, as I feel some people get pressured into it when they don’t want to and it’s not fair.

I will not be using much stylistics as I don’t really feel it is appropriate for my audience. I feel like stylistics would slightly ‘dumb’ them down. I will however use repetition in my Body Dysmorphia article to stress that it is a really serious issue, and how some sufferers genuinely do not believe there is anything wrong with them when they are suffering from a serious condition. I will use repetition to also stress that people need to look out for the symptoms so that the sufferers can get a diagnosis.
