Project Monitoring

I haven’t done a write up in a while on my blog because I have had exams in other subjects and haven’t managed to write up in the other lesson time as I have been too busy making sure I don’t get behind in my schedule.  I don’t think that I am doing as well as I could be and am slightly behind my schedule because of my exams, but I am not too concerned as I am making my time up by working very hard in lessons and using my free periods and after college time to stay behind and complete the work that should be done.
The exam situation has not been ideal however I know that I need to work hard to finish and I am prepared to do so.
I also had a problem when I did my first Photoshoot for 2 double paged spreads, front cover and contents page my pictures where lost of the camera and therefore I had no images. I went to book a Photoshoot but as the list was very full I had to get one for the next week, in which I will make sure that I do get my pictures from the camera and there are no problems, as this was a major setback in my project and wasted a lot of time.
Apart from this I think that everything else is going okay, as I said I just need to make sure that my project doesn’t fall too far behind where I won’t be able to finish it before the deadline. I will make sure this doesn’t happen by working extra hard.

Projecting Monitoring

This week in my schedule I aimed to make amendments of my body dysmorphia article, which I re-drafted and completed ahead of my schedule. Secondly I completed my task of setting up the pages for all my documents using InDesign which I also completed ahead of schedule, because I had a Philosophy exam on Thursdays lesson so knew I couldn’t waste any time. Friday’s lesson is today in which I am assessing how I am completing my project and if there is anything I am behind in. After this I will start putting together on In Design Body Dysmorphia article, creating the title, help lines box and writing the introduction.
Everything is running smoothly with my project and I feel as though I am in control and up to date with everything I have completed so far. I am not currently worried about anything in my project and feel like everything is going according to plan.

Project Monitoring

I have organised my schedule in a way which I can make sure that my Media work won’t fall behind whilst I am doing my January exams. In the weeks that I have exams I have made sure that I have set myself realistic goals so that I am still doing work so I don’t fall behind, but making sure that I don’t fall behind on my schedule. I have also made sure that I balance my skills so I will write an article, put the page together in InDesign and design one DPS, before I move on to the next one as I feel like if I choose to do all my articles and then all my designing, they might not be to my best creative ability and I don’t want to get mixed up.
I think I have set myself realistic goals as I explained with my exams making sure that I can complete certain tasks in the weeks which I have exams so that I don’t fall behind on my schedule. I believe that because I have allowed for contingency time on my schedule it has made it more realistic as things could and might go wrong, so I know I will definitely have time to finish it before the deadline.
The big challenges in my schedule will most likely be writing my articles as I have to be in a very focused and creative mind, which is often hard to find in class. I might also be challenged by InDesign and Photoshop as my skills are not particularly good, I will need to explore new things which might take longer.

Photoshoot Plan

 Material to be shot:

I will have one girl for the front cover of my magazine, and all of the double pages spreads. In one DPS, in particular the ‘teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ I will have 3 – 4 different models as I think it would be more appropriate.

What personnel do you need?

Lighting assistant:
Makeup assistant: Myself
Models: Ellie Jackson, Ellie Booth, Emma Crawford, Ashley Ruddam

What props will you need?

I will need bottles of alcohol for my teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ and a baby doll for my teenage pregnancy pictures and blanket. I have potentially thought about using a pushchair as and baby bottle as props as well to make sure that I get the most amount of better pictures that I can, then at the end I can look through them and decide which one fits in better with the colour and the layout.

Describe in detail your make-up & costume needs. (Include reference material to illustrate your needs)

My make up needs for the front cover, teenage pregnancy and body dysmorphia will all be similar. I would like to create the image of natural beauty and confidence by wearing clothes that will show off her figure, but still very classy and sophisticated. I will have her wearing the bare minimum of make up as i want to show that girls don’t need to have a lot of make-up to look nice, and i want it to be a window for the future self for other girls to look at and take inspiration.
For the teenage stress article (drugs and alcohol misuse) i will be using very different clothing to portray the image in a dark light. The girls will be wearing very dark make-up and clothes which do not suit them, and are far too revealing. I don’t want them to look very nice and would like there eye make up dark and heavy, and running down their face as they have lost control of their awareness and cannot manage to sort themselves out, connoting the bad lighting as a dark state that no-one would want to be in.

Studio shoots: what kind of lighting?
(include reference material to illustrate your needs)

For all of my images I will be using butterfly lighting to enhance the beauty of my models and make them look soft and sweet, fitting in with the target audience. As the lighting enhances the features it will make them look confident like a window to the future self.  For my ‘teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ pictures I will use narrow lighting to darken the image and make the models look darker showing them in a bad light.

Backdrop:

All of my backdrops will be white, I will potentially use a black one for my ‘teenage stress – drugs and alcohol misuse’ article pictures.

Lighting equipment needs:
Reflector
Soft Box

Contingency Plan

What could go wrong during production
How are you going to avoid this issue? What’s your back up plan?
My models might not turn up
To avoid this problem I should make sure that I alert my models a week before the photo shoot to make sure they can still attend, so that if they can’t I have time to reschedule or get new models. I will them remind them of the time, date and place of the shoot and make sure that they are still okay to do it, then again the day before, and on the morning of the day, then a couple of hours before.
No camera or lighting equipment available
To avoid this problem I will check the day before that all my equipment is set up. I will then go on the morning of my shoot, and arrive 30 minutes before to remind them and make sure that everything is set up and ready so I don’t have a delay.
Models refuse to wear costumes
To avoid this i will make sure i give my models a full brief so they know exactly what is expected of them. I will then check with them that it is okay and let them try it on and have a trail to make sure they are comfortable. I will them check with them two days before that it is still okay.
Could lose pictures/work
To avoid this I am going to make sure that I back my pictures and work up on a memory stick, my home computer and my computer at college, so that if I lose them I have full back-ups.
Run out of time
To avoid this I will make sure that I leave plenty of time and plan in advance, getting a head start. I will also make sure I use lessons and free periods to my full advantage and also use my time at home wisely.
Don’t get a photo shoot
To avoid this I will make sure that I book one very far ahead of when I plan to do it, so that I can check I have defiantly got one.
